Ultimamente siamo tutte impazzite per questo marchio. Si tratta di un' epidemia fashion senza precedenti che ci ha contagiato tutte, senza eccezioni. Sì perché magari Jeffrey Campbell può anche non piacere, magari qualcuno ancora non possiede o non conosce le magnifiche LITA, ma insomma sicuramente il suo stile non può lasciare indifferenti.

La cosa interessante è che questo marchio non può fregiarsi di una storia centenaria o di testimonial molto di classe, certo, ma che risalgono agli anni '30. Non si può dire che sia un brand che ha vissuto anni difficili durante le guerre mondiali, e tutte quelle caratteristiche delle Maison di cui ci siamo occupati sino ad adesso. Il marchio Jeffrey Campbell punta sulla modernità, si tratta di una ventata d'aria fresca che viene a sconvolgere e sovvertire le regole della moda. Produce scarpe fatte per essere indossate, dedicate a ragazze che vogliono essere e sentirsi alla moda, ma che desiderano anche non prendersi troppo sul serio e stare comode.

Infatti una delle cose meravigliose delle sue scarpe, ed in particolare delle LITA, è che sono altissime (quando le indosso il mio ragazzo si cimenta in una serie di prodezze per cercare di allungarsi il più possibile), ma allo stesso tempo comodissime. 

Cerchiamo allora di ripercorrere brevemente quella che è la recente storia di questo marchio innovativo.

Campbell inizia la sua carriera nel campo della moda a Nordstrom (grande catena di distribuzione statunitense), occupandosi del design delle scarpe e della successiva vendita.

Più tardi si occupa della produzione di calzature nelle Filippine, collabora infatti con una compagnia che produce scarpe e stivali con pelli esotiche. Jeffrey lavora fianco a fianco col suo staff a Marikina, producendo scarpe per le sfilate o per i clienti più facoltosi.

Nel 2000 lo stilista statunitense fonda la sua propria etichetta a Los Angeles, sostenuto con forza dalla moglie e dalla famiglia, col fratello che diventa socio della compagnia. Si tratta di un marchio che è tutt'ora a gestione prettamente familiare, quasi a voler conservare quella che è l'idea iniziale e l' ispirazione che ha dato vita al progetto. 

E cosa dire delle LITA? Così recenti e già così amate, ci hanno conquistato. Devo ammettere che sono le mie preferite, il fiore all'occhiello di tutta la collezione di Campbell, il punto focale in cui si fondono e si concentrano tutti i maggiori pregi del marchio.

Ma che cosa rende le scarpe di Jeffrey Campbell così uniche?

• Prima di tutto sono facilmente riconoscibili, coi loro tacchi spessi e i mega plateaux,
• sono comodissime, e non ci obbligano ad avere paura di slogarci le caviglie pur di essere fashion,
• accontentano tutte, con la miriade di modelli e fantasie a disposizione, dai toni e materiali più comuni fino a modelli totalmente glitter, di camoscio, pelle, cavallino, con bandiere, leopardati, borchiati...
• stanno bene con tutto, dai jeans (per avere un look sporty) fino a un vestitino romantico (per sdrammatizzarlo ed acquistare un'aria rock), dagli shorts (per chi vuole osare) ai leggins (rimarrete esterrefatte da quanto allungano e snelliscono le gambe),
• sono divertenti; possiamo infatti giocarci creando un look sempre diverso in cui le nostre scarpe possono essere protagoniste (se puntiamo su un look poco vistoso per metterle in primo piano) oppure possiamo abbinarle agli altri accessori, come borse o bijoux,
• hanno uno stile tra il vintage e il metropolitano, si vede che Campbell trae ispirazione dalle ragazze che vede per la strada, perché è riuscito ad ottenere lo stile sporty e very glam di cui avevamo tanto bisogno,
• non seguono le stagioni e gli stravolgimenti che sono tanto cari al mondo della moda, ma sono sempre fedeli al loro stile, e, quindi, possiamo comprarle senza il timore di poterle indossare solo per un breve periodo,
• per non parlare poi dell'iniziativa per cui dentro ogni scatola ci sono annunci diversi di gatti che hanno bisogno di adozione, che, per un'animalista come me, si tratta proprio della ciliegina sulla torta per consacrare questo marchio sull'olimpo dei miei preferiti.

E allora cerchiamo di sfruttare al massimo questa meraviglia di scarpe, giochiamoci, abbiniamole in tutti i modi possibili ed immaginabili, si sa mai che Jeffrey ci veda per la strada e tragga ispirazione dal nostro look per un nuovo modello!!!!

Recently we all are going crazy for this brand. It's a fashion pandemic that strikes everyone, without exception. In fact, maybe not everyone own or like the wonderful LITA, but their style certainly make an impact. 

The interesting thing is that this brand doesn't have a centennial history or testimonials from the 1930's, it's not a brand that has survived to World Wars, so it hasn't the characteristics we saw about  the other brands. Jeffrey Campbell's brand aim at modernity, it's a wave of fresh air that came to overturn the fashion rules. It produces shoes 'ready to wear', for girl that want to be glamorous, but also funny and comfortable. In fact the wonderful characteristic of these shoes (LITA in particular) is that they are very high-heeled (when I wear them my boyfriend tries to stretch himself in many ways) but in the same time very comfortable. 

So let's try to trace this innovative brand history.

Jeffrey Campbell starts his career as a fashion stylist at Nordstrom ( a fashion retailer chain in the United States), specializing in sales, shoes-design and building.

Next he works in the Philippines for a small fashion design house that produce footwear and boots in exotic skins. Jeffrey works with a staff in Marikina, to develop shoes for shows and VIP clients.

In 2000, Jeffrey launches his label with his wife and family support, in LA, and after his brother became his business partner. Jeffrey Campbell remains today a small family owned brand, trying for keep alive the original inspiration and concept.

And what we can say about LITA? So recent and so loved, they have conquered us. I have to admit that they are my favorite, the Campbell collection flagship, the ones in which all the brand good characteristics are put in. 

So, what makes Jeffrey Campbell shoes so special?

• They are easily recognizable, with their high heel and maxi platform,
• they are very comfortable, so we can be fashion without the risk of broken ankles,
• they came in every color, pattern and style imaginable, from neutral colors to leopard-prints, from suede to leather, glittered, pony-haired or studded ones, 
• they go with almost anything, from jeans (for a sporty look) to a romantic dress (to give it a rock style), from shorts (for whom that want to dare) to leggins (they will make your legs fabulous),
• they are fun, we can match them with many outfits, not loud ones if we want to focus on our shoes, or we can also match them with accessories in the same pattern, 
• they are a mix of vintage inspiration, runway trending and the grind of daily life. In fact Campbell's source of inspiration are the everyday woman, the girls on the streets, the ladies on the subways, and he has obtained the sporty glam style we need so much, 
• they don't follow fashion seasonal changes. Campbell is not a fashion slave and he follow his style for every collection. So we can buy them without the fear to throw them after a short period,
• inside every shoes box there are some cat adoption announcements, that, for an animal activist like me, is a great thing, that make this brand one of my favorite ones.

So let's wear these fantastic shoes in every possible and imaginable way with all the outfits we want, and maybe Jeffrey will see us on the street and we'll become his source of inspiration for a new collection.
